The LTC Facility has been designed to meet LEED certification with a completion date set for Summer 2015.

The LTC Facility includes space for recreation therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and spirituality.

The structure generally consists of 5 levels of conventional steel and concrete floor structure plus a full storey mechanical penthouse. The roof structure is typically structural steel beams and OWSJ with metal decking.

Scope of Services
DBA was responsible for design of the Structural Steel Super Structure and the Foundation Systems for the Long Term Health Care Patient Tower.

Design Challenges
Bedrock was discovered on site during preliminary geo-technical investigation, as a result blasting operations adjacent to very sensitive equipment of the existing hospital proved to be a challenge.

Methodical coordination was required between all team members during construction and blasting operations.
